Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits said chief supply chain officer Bobby Burg will transition from his day-to-day responsibilities and assume a senior advisory role effective March 2, as the company realigns leadership within its supply chain organization.
Burg will serve as a strategic adviser to chief financial officer Thomas Greenlee. In that capacity, he will provide guidance on the company’s multiyear supply chain transformation efforts, including support for its third-party logistics subsidiary, Ankaa Global Logistics, oversight of technology deployments and planning for future distribution center real estate strategy.
CEO Wayne Chaplin said Burg “has built a world-class supply chain function” and expressed appreciation for his continued service in an advisory role.
Burg joined Southern Glazer’s in 1993 through the acquisition of his family’s South Carolina distributorship. Over more than three decades, he held several senior leadership roles, including chief information officer and senior vice president of supply chain strategy. The company said he helped lead enterprise initiatives across logistics, technology, and operations, and contributed to the development of its business continuity, safety, and environmental sustainability programs.
As part of the transition, Drew Vermilion, senior vice president of supply chain strategy, and Ron Flanary, senior vice president of national operations, will report directly to Greenlee.
Greenlee said he will work with Vermilion and Flanary to continue executing the company’s supply chain strategy.
Burg said he will remain engaged in supporting supply chain and operations leadership in his new role.
Southern Glazer’s is a family-owned distributor of beverage alcohol headquartered in Miami. The company operates in 47 U.S. markets and Canada and maintains brokerage operations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. It employs about 21,900 people, according to the company.
