U.S. construction spending in January 2025 was at a seasonally adjusted rate of $2.192.5 billion, down 0.2% from December 2024 and up 3.3% above January 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Spending on private construction was $1.686 billion, down 0.2% from December. Residential construction was $932.7 billion, down 0.4%, while nonresidential construction was $753.3 billion, virtually unchanged from December.
Public construction spending was $506.6 billion, up 0.1%. Educational construction was $109.8 billion, down 0.4%. Highway construction was $145 billion, up 0.6%.
