Why This Matters to Distributors: Demand for water and wastewater infrastructure investment is fueling consolidation among specialized industrial distributors as companies seek greater scale, technical expertise, and regional coverage.
United Flow Technologies has acquired Peak Group Companies, expanding its presence in the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains and strengthening its position in the municipal and industrial water and wastewater market.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Peak Group, based in Belgrade, Montana, provides water and wastewater treatment solutions, pumps, and process equipment to municipal and industrial customers throughout the region. The acquisition expands United Flow Technologies’ geographic footprint and adds wastewater treatment, construction, maintenance, and service capabilities in several Western markets.
“Peak Group is a strong strategic fit that enhances our platform with meaningful wastewater scale and technical depth,” United Flow Technologies CEO Matt Hart said. “This addition positions UFT to accelerate growth in the Mountain West.”
Founded in Montana, Peak Group serves customers across the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains, helping municipalities and industrial operators manage water treatment systems, meet regulatory requirements, and improve operational performance.
“Joining UFT allows us to build on that foundation with expanded resources, deeper technical collaboration and a shared commitment to solving complex challenges for customers,” Peak Group President Matt Huggins said.
The acquisition continues United Flow Technologies’ strategy of building a national platform focused on water and wastewater infrastructure. The Irving, Texas-based company distributes process equipment and treatment technologies and provides technical services to municipal utilities and industrial customers across the U.S.
The deal comes as utilities and industrial operators continue investing in aging water infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and system modernization. Those trends have supported steady demand for water treatment equipment and services while driving acquisition activity among distributors and solutions providers serving the sector.
United Flow Technologies is backed by private equity firm Berkshire Partners, which has supported the company’s growth through acquisitions designed to expand its technical capabilities, product portfolio, and regional reach.
The addition of Peak Group strengthens United Flow Technologies’ position in the Mountain West and broadens its access to municipal and industrial customers in a region experiencing population growth and increasing infrastructure investment.
The transaction also strengthens the North American operations of Beijer Ref, one of the world’s largest refrigeration and climate-control distribution companies. The Sweden-based company operates in 45 countries across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
