Builders FirstSource has acquired Precision Design and Trim, a Boise, Idaho-based installation company specializing in finish carpentry for residential construction, expanding its service capabilities in one of the fastest-growing housing markets in the United States.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2006 by Eric Brant and Frank Knight, Precision Design and Trim provide finish carpentry and trim installation services for new-home construction projects throughout the Boise market.
The acquisition strengthens Builders FirstSource’s presence in Idaho and adds installation expertise to the company’s existing portfolio of building materials, manufactured components, and construction services.
“This acquisition expands our installation capabilities and strengthens our presence in the Boise area,” President and CEO Peter Jackson said in a statement. “Precision Design and Trim’s expertise and focus on quality align with our commitment to our customers and strategic priorities.”
The deal is the latest example of Builders FirstSource’s continued investment in value-added services that complement its core distribution business. In recent years, the company has expanded its offerings beyond building materials to include installation, manufacturing and digital tools designed to help builders manage projects more efficiently.
Installation services have become an increasingly key area of focus for building products distributors as labor shortages and growing project complexity lead homebuilders to seek suppliers that can provide both materials and installation support.
The acquisition also increases Builders FirstSource’s exposure to the Boise metropolitan area, a market that has sustained residential construction activity driven by population growth and housing demand.
Based in Irving, Texas, Builders FirstSource is the nation’s largest supplier of structural building products, value-added components and services to professional homebuilders, contractors, and remodelers. The company operates a nationwide network of locations serving residential and commercial construction customers.
Builders FirstSource did not disclose the number of employees included in the transaction or whether Precision Design and Trim will continue operating under its existing brand.
