Why This Matters to Distributors: Sales teams remain one of the most labor-intensive functions in food distribution. GrubMarket’s latest AI tool is aimed at reducing the time required to identify prospects, analyze customer requirements, and generate quotes, potentially allowing distributors to pursue more opportunities without adding sales staff.
Food supply chain technology provider GrubMarket has launched an artificial intelligence-powered sales platform designed to automate prospecting, menu analysis, and quote generation for wholesale food distributors.
The San Francisco-based company announced June 8 that its new Sales AI Agent will help distributors identify potential customers, analyze restaurant menus, and order guides, and create customer-ready pricing proposals through a single workflow.
The release reflects a growing trend among distributors and technology providers to apply artificial intelligence to front-office sales activities after initial adoption focused on customer service, inventory management, demand forecasting, and operational efficiency.
For many food distributors, winning a new restaurant or foodservice account can require hours of manual research. Sales representatives typically identify prospects within a territory, gather contact information, review menus, determine product requirements and assemble customized pricing proposals.
GrubMarket said its new AI tool is designed to compress much of that process into minutes.
The platform allows sales teams to search for restaurants, foodservice operators and retailers by ZIP code or geographic area. Users can upload restaurant menus or order guides in PDF or image format, and the system analyzes menu items and ingredients before matching them to products within the distributor’s catalog.
The software then generates a customer-ready price sheet using existing pricing structures, which sales representatives can edit before sending them through email, text message, or other communication channels.
According to GrubMarket, the platform’s core capabilities include territory-based prospect discovery, menu analysis, automated quote generation, quote customization, multi-channel proposal delivery, and integration with existing food distribution software systems.
The Sales AI Agent integrates with several enterprise software platforms commonly used by food distributors, including WholesaleWare ERP, Thyme Software, Granite State Software, PICS by WaudWare and Orders IO. The company said the platform is also available as a standalone application for distributors that do not use those systems.
The launch is the latest addition to GrubMarket’s broader strategy of developing specialized AI applications for food supply chain companies. The company has introduced multiple AI-powered tools during the past year as distributors seek ways to improve productivity amid ongoing labor constraints and competitive pricing pressures.
Artificial intelligence emerged as a major investment area across wholesale distribution in 2026. Companies are increasingly deploying AI tools for pricing optimization, customer service automation, order entry, forecasting, and procurement. More recently, vendors have shifted attention toward sales workflows, where distributors often face significant administrative burdens that limit the number of accounts representatives can actively pursue.
Founded in 2014, GrubMarket operates a business-to-business food commerce platform and provides software and technology services to food wholesalers, distributors, and producers. The company says it serves customers in all 50 states and several international markets.
Financial terms related to the development or commercialization of the Sales AI Agent were not disclosed.
