Why This Matters to Distributors: The acquisition expands Cummins-Wagner’s HVAC and plumbing business in New York and adds Syracuse Thermal’s hydronic heating, boiler, water heating, plumbing, and steam product lines to its regional distribution operations.
Cummins-Wagner Co. has acquired Syracuse Thermal Products, expanding the employee-owned distributor’s HVAC and plumbing business in central New York.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Annapolis Junction, Maryland-based Cummins-Wagner distributes and represents commercial HVAC, plumbing, industrial process and municipal water and wastewater equipment across the Mid-Atlantic and New England. The company also provides system design, assembly, aftermarket service, and repair.
Syracuse Thermal, based in East Syracuse, New York, is a manufacturers’ representative and distributor of hydronic heating, boiler, water heating, plumbing and steam products for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
The company also provides system design, installation support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance services. Its product offering includes pumps, heat exchangers, hydronic equipment, steam products, and controls.
Cummins-Wagner said the acquisition is part of its strategy to expand through a combination of market growth and acquisitions.
“The combination of Cummins-Wagner and Syracuse Thermal creates a company with greater scale and resources to continue and expand our ability to provide experienced engineered sales and service in the commercial and residential HVAC and plumbing markets,” Cummins-Wagner CEO Doug Ardinger said.
Syracuse Thermal President Jack Koenig said the transaction will provide additional resources for the company’s operations and growth.
“Teaming up with Cummins-Wagner brings stability for the future of the company,” Koenig said. “It will provide resources to ensure Syracuse Thermal will continue to grow in the markets we serve.”
Syracuse Thermal employees will become participants in Cummins-Wagner’s employee stock ownership plan. Cummins-Wagner is 100% employee-owned through the Cummins-Wagner Employee Stock Ownership Trust.
The acquisition also extends to a series of deals by Cummins-Wagner. The company acquired Thermoflo in 2024, expanding its HVAC and plumbing operations, and Envirep in 2025, adding to its water and wastewater business.
Founded in 1960, Cummins-Wagner has operations across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts.
