Why It Matters to Distributors: The deal gives Lonestar a base in Huntsville and adds local inventory, employees, and customer relationships as it expands across the Southeast. It also reflects the continued push by distributors to build regional scale in markets supported by industrial investment.
Lonestar Electric Supply has acquired Huntsville-based Redstone Electric Supply, marking the Houston company’s entry into Alabama.
Redstone will keep its name and continue operating from its Huntsville facility. All Redstone employees will join Lonestar, the companies said.
Redstone supplies equipment, parts, and lighting for commercial, industrial, and federal construction projects. Both companies also offer project management, custom logistics and financial structuring to support material tracking and project execution. They are channel partners of ABB, an electrical equipment manufacturer.
“Redstone’s approach mirrors our own, positioning itself as a problem-solving partner that is there 24/7 for clients and partners with top vendors and brands,” said Jeff Metzler, Lonestar’s CEO.
The acquisition gives Lonestar a foothold in Huntsville, whose economy includes aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing and technology, Metzler said. He said customers should continue to receive service during the transition.
Redstone president Blake Hulgan said Alabama’s industrial investment is creating demand for electrical supplies. He cited 234 new or expanding industry projects announced by the state last year, a record.
The deal follows Lonestar’s acquisition this summer of Industrial Cable Solutions in Louisiana. The company has also expanded in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette, and opened operations in new markets in Texas and Oklahoma earlier this year.
Lonestar serves commercial and industrial contractors, engineering, procurement and construction firms, original equipment manufacturers, and end users.
