ORS Nasco Adds Techniweld and Powerweld, Targets Canadian Welding Market

Why This Matters to Distributors: The acquisitions expand ORS Nasco’s welding assortment and Canadian reach. For distributors, that could mean access to more products through a single wholesale source, while increasing the importance of the company’s pledge to sell only through distribution.

ORS Nasco has acquired welding suppliers Techniweld and Powerweld, adding to the master wholesaler’s presence in the welding market and Canada.

President and CEO Kevin Short announced the acquisitions Oct. 7 in a LinkedIn post. “We believe in the Canadian market and we love welding,” he wrote. Short did not disclose the terms or provide details about the companies’ operations.

The deals mark ORS Nasco’s sixth and seventh acquisitions in 20 months, according to Short. He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to selling through distributors rather than directly to end users.

ORS Nasco previously announced its acquisition of Atlanta-based Techniweld USA in May 2025. Short’s post did not clarify whether the newly acquired Techniweld is related to that business.

The latest acquisitions extend ORS Nasco’s expansion across products and markets. Welding distributors typically source a range of products, including filler metals, consumables, safety equipment and welding machines. Adding suppliers could broaden the assortment available through ORS Nasco, though the company has not detailed how the acquisitions will affect its product offerings or Canadian operations.

For distributors, the deals bring both potential convenience and greater reliance on a growing wholesale supplier. A broader assortment could make it easier to source products through one partner. At the same time, as ORS Nasco adds businesses and expands geographically, distributors will be watching how it maintains its “pure wholesale” model.

Short did not provide a timeline for future acquisitions. His announcement brings the company’s reported total to seven deals in 20 months.
