Why This Matters to Distributors: As AI tools reshape how healthcare providers order and manage supplies, medical distributors that build dedicated digital leadership now — rather than retrofitting it later — are better positioned to compete on customer experience, order automation and data-driven inventory management in a post-acute care market that is consolidating quickly.
GMSS Holdings, the Woburn, Mass.-based parent company of Geriatric Medical and Surgical Supply and DDP Medical Supply, has appointed Justin Racine as chief digital officer, adding dedicated AI and digital commerce leadership to a medical supply distribution platform serving long-term care, durable medical equipment, and home care providers nationwide.
Racine will lead GMSS Holdings’ digital transformation strategy, with a focus on advancing AI-driven commerce, enhancing customer experience and aligning digital and physical operations across both brands.
“Justin’s appointment marks an exciting milestone,” said Jeffrey Siegal, chief executive officer of GMSS Holdings. “His forward-thinking approach to digital innovation and deep expertise in AI-driven commerce make him uniquely positioned to build on our strong foundation — expanding our capabilities and accelerating the next phase of our growth.”
Racine has brought more than 16 years of experience in brand strategy, digital commerce, and marketing leadership. Most recently he served as associate vice president of commerce strategy at Perficient, a global AI-first digital consultancy, where he led go-to-market strategy and advised enterprise clients on generative AI commerce experiences, extended reality, unified customer journeys, and enterprise digital transformation.
“This organization has always been rooted in service and strong customer relationships,” said Racine. “Now, we will look to build on that foundation with modern digital capabilities — leveraging AI, unified commerce strategies and innovative experience design — to better support our customers and partners.”
GMSS Holdings formed its current structure in October 2024 when Geriatric Medical acquired DDP Medical Supply, combining two of the nation’s medical supply distributors into a single platform focused on chronic, post-acute and home care providers. Geriatric Medical carries more than 30,000 products and focuses exclusively on long-term care, durable medical equipment, and home care providers. DDP Medical Supply, founded in 1998 and headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fla., distributes durable medical equipment, diabetic supplies, pharmaceuticals, and wound care products to DME companies, pharmacies, physician offices, and surgical centers.
For medical supply distributors, the GMSS Holdings appointment reflects a structural shift in how distribution companies are positioning for AI-driven commerce — embedding digital strategy at the C-suite level rather than treating it as an IT function, and doing so across a combined platform that spans long-term care, home care and post-acute channels.
