Why This Matters to Distributors: The appointment underscores how specialty distributors are prioritizing digital commerce, ERP modernization and technical sales expertise as competition intensifies supplier relationships and customer engagement.
Univar has appointed Christopher Kelley chief executive officer of ChemPoint, its specialty chemicals distribution subsidiary, effective June 1.
Kelley most recently served as president of USABlueBook, a specialty distribution business within HD Supply with about $250 million in annual revenue, according to Univar Solutions. The company said Kelley led a 350-person organization and oversaw initiatives involving cloud-based ERP implementation, operational modernization, and organizational restructuring.
Prior to USABlueBook, Kelley held senior leadership positions at HD Supply and General Electric in ecommerce, marketing, strategic development, investor relations and Six Sigma operations, the company said.

Kelley said ChemPoint’s combination of digital tools and technical sales capabilities positions the company for continued growth.
“ChemPoint has built a unique, high-value model that combines digital enablement with deep customer and supplier engagement,” Kelley said.
ChemPoint provides specialty and fine chemicals distribution and marketing services across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The business manages more than 200 product lines and works with more than 70 supplier partners globally, according to the company.
The appointment comes as specialty distributors continue increasing investments in ecommerce platforms, digital customer engagement, and data-driven sales tools to improve operational efficiency and strengthen supplier partnerships.
