EMS Acquires AMD Supply, Expands Fencing and Hurricane Protection Business

Why This Matters to Distributors: The AMD Supply acquisition continues EMS’s expansion beyond its core aluminum distribution business into complementary product categories and customer segments. Adding fencing and hurricane protection products gives EMS more opportunities to sell to contractors, dealers and builders while expanding its reach across the Southeast. The deal also marks EMS’s eighth acquisition under Wynnchurch Capital, underscoring the role of acquisitions in the distributor’s growth strategy.

EMS has acquired AMD Supply, expanding the aluminum products distributor’s fencing and hurricane protection business and adding customers across the Southeast.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Deerfield Beach, Florida-based AMD distributes aluminum and vinyl fencing, hurricane shutters, standard and custom aluminum extrusions, tubular motors and accessories, screen doors, hardware, and castings. The company serves fence contractors, general contractors, manufacturers, dealers and builders across Florida, the Southeast, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The acquisition gives EMS additional exposure to the fencing and construction markets while broadening its hurricane protection product offering.

“AMD has built a differentiated business through its focus on customer service, product availability, and technical expertise,” EMS CEO Mike Swedick. “The acquisition expands our offering across fencing and hurricane protection products.”

Founded in 2006, AMD will become part of an EMS business that operates more than 20 distribution and manufacturing facilities totaling 2 million square feet.

Lake Worth, Florida-based EMS was founded in 1982 and distributes aluminum products to industrial, commercial, residential, and marine markets. The company is owned by private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital.

AMD is the eighth acquisition EMS has completed under Wynnchurch’s ownership, according to the companies.

Wynnchurch, which focuses on investments in industrial businesses, manages approximately $9.1 billion in assets. The firm previously owned industrial flow control distributor FloWorks, which it sold to Ferguson Enterprises in 2023 for approximately $1.6 billion.
