Industrial Supply Company Expands Salt Lake City Operations, Plans for Larger Distribution Center

Why This Matters to Distributors: Industrial Supply Company is adding warehouse capacity after what it described as a record year while preparing for a potentially larger distribution investment. The property acquisition gives the distributor immediate room to improve inventory flow and enough contiguous space to consider a larger, integrated distribution center.

Industrial Supply Company has acquired property next to its Salt Lake City headquarters, adding more than 18,000 square feet of warehouse and office space and creating room for a larger distribution center in the future.

The maintenance, repair, operations, and production distributor said the acquisition includes property directly east of its headquarters at 229 West Harris Avenue. The purchase gives Industrial Supply ownership of the entire block surrounding its longtime Salt Lake City campus.

Industrial Supply said it needs the additional capacity following what it described as a record-setting year. The new space is expected to provide additional capacity across its distribution network while improving inventory flow and operating efficiency.

The acquisition also gives Industrial Supply room for a more substantial expansion.

The company said the property could eventually support development of a larger, integrated distribution center. Planning and site evaluations for the newly acquired space are beginning immediately, although Industrial Supply did not provide a timetable or estimated investment for the project.

“Our family has been investing in this business for four generations, and this acquisition represents one of the most significant investments in our recent history,” CEO Jessica Yurgaitis said. “This is more than a physical expansion. It is a direct investment in our 250 team members, our customers, and the Salt Lake City community that has supported us for decades.”

Industrial Supply has operated from its Salt Lake City headquarters campus since 1964. The company was founded in Salt Lake City in 1916.

The Utah-based distributor serves customers in the construction, manufacturing, mining, government, and industrial markets. It operates in nine locations serving Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, as well as surrounding areas.
