Why This Matters to Distributors: Medline’s planned distribution center will add capacity in Michigan as the medical supplier invests to support growth and customer demand. The facility is intended to give the company more flexibility in serving healthcare providers across the state and the broader Midwest.
Medline plans to open an approximately 800,000-square-foot distribution center near Detroit in late 2028, expanding its Michigan network to support growth and serve healthcare providers.
The facility will be in Van Buren Township at Ashley Capital’s Crossroads Distribution Center North industrial park. Ashley Capital is leading development of the site, according to Medline’s announcement.
Medline did not disclose the project’s cost, anticipated staffing or construction schedule. The company said the building is expected to use many of the same technologies deployed at its other distribution centers but did not identify specific equipment or systems.
“This investment in Van Buren Township reflects Medline’s continued focus on strengthening our Michigan distribution network and investing in our people,” said Billy Abrams, executive vice president of supply chain solutions.
Tom Reynolds, executive vice president of acute care, said the facility would expand capacity and operating flexibility in Michigan. He said the investment is intended to strengthen service to healthcare providers across the state and the broader Midwest.
Township supervisor Kevin McNamara said the project is expected to bring jobs and support the local economy. The announcement did not include an employment estimate.
Based in Northfield, Illinois, Medline supplies medical-surgical products and supply chain services to healthcare providers. The company said it employs more than 45,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries.
