Why This Matters to Distributors: F.W. Webb’s expansion combines additional inventory, convenient pickup options, and contractor training with a separate operation for specialized valve services. The investment builds on an acquisition that brought the company into the Buffalo market in 2022.
F.W. Webb Co. opened a 140,000-square-foot store and warehouse in Amherst, New York, to expandi its Buffalo-area distribution capacity while converting its existing location into a specialized valve service shop.
The new facility at 735 South Youngs Road serves contractors, facility operators and other trade professionals with plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and industrial products. More than 40 employees transferred from the company’s Buffalo location, and F.W. Webb plans to hire 15 additional workers.
The expansion builds on F.W. Webb’s 2022 acquisition of Stritt and Prieb Inc., which established its presence in the Buffalo market. The wholesale counter at 37 Clyde Ave. is moving to Amherst, while the existing location will become a dedicated valve repair, testing and maintenance shop operated by Alliance Specialty Group, an F.W. Webb subsidiary.
The valve shop will serve industrial, institutional, utility and power generation customers, maintaining a specialized service operation as the company expands its wholesale business.
“We’ve developed strong relationships with trade professionals through our stores in upstate New York and across the Northeast, and we see a significant opportunity to build on that success in the Buffalo area,” said Bob Mucciarone, F.W. Webb’s chief operating officer.
“Our team is ready to make an immediate difference for the skilled trades and support industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects throughout the region,” he said.
The Amherst building includes a 12,500-square-foot self-service counter area and a 65,500-square-foot warehouse. A three-acre paved outdoor storage yard provides additional inventory space, while a drive-through pipe barn and dedicated order pickup center give customers more ways to collect materials.
Customers can order by phone, text, or the F.W. Webb mobile app. A training center with room for more than 40 participants will host product education and certification classes addressing new technologies and regulatory changes.
“At F.W. Webb, we combine the great capabilities of a large-scale corporation with the personalized service of a third-generation, family-owned business,” said Michael Schultz, general manager of the Amherst operation.
The company also plans to open a 6,230-square-foot Frank Webb Home bath, kitchen, and lighting showroom at the facility in 2027. Working displays, bathroom vignettes and showroom consultants will help homeowners, designers and contractors select products for remodeling and new construction.
The opening continues F.W. Webb’s expansion across the Northeast. The company opened facilities in Rochester and Canastota, New York, in 2025. This year, stores in Somerdale, New Jersey, Central Islip, New York, and relocated operations in Whippany, New Jersey, and Queensbury, New York.
F.W. Webb plans to open its second central distribution warehouse in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in 2027. Based in Bedford, Massachusetts, the third-generation, family-owned distributor operates more than 100 locations across nine Northeastern states and employs more than 3,700 people.
