IBT Industrial Solutions Expands Southeast Footprint with Indesco Acquisition

Why This Matters to Distributors: The acquisition expands IBT Industrial Solutions’ presence in the Southeast while strengthening its hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission capabilities. It also reflects the continuing consolidation of the industrial distribution market as distributors pursue acquisitions to add technical expertise, broaden geographic coverage, and deepen relationships with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) customers.

IBT Industrial Solutions has acquired Indesco Inc., a Charlotte, North Carolina-based distributor of hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission products, expanding its technical capabilities and strengthening its presence in the Southeast.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded more than 40 years ago, Indesco supplies hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical power transmission products to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) customers throughout the Southeast. The company operates from its Charlotte headquarters and serves customers across agriculture, food and beverage, material handling, textiles, woodworking, production automation, industrial maintenance, and manufacturing.

Its product portfolio includes hydraulic valves, manifolds, cylinders, accumulators, pumps, motors, hoses, filtration products, pneumatic components, air cylinders, bearings, gearboxes, speed reducers, and heat exchangers.

The acquisition broadens IBT’s engineered products offering while expanding its reach in a key manufacturing region.

“This acquisition strengthens IBT’s ability to support customers with technical industrial solutions and expands our presence in a strong Southeastern market,” Jeff Cloud, president and CEO of IBT Industrial Solutions, said.

IBT said it will work with the Indesco team over the coming months to integrate the business while maintaining customer relationships, supplier partnerships and technical expertise that have driven Indesco’s growth.

The deal is the latest example of continued consolidation across the industrial distribution sector, where distributors are using acquisitions to expand regional coverage and add specialized technical capabilities rather than simply increasing scale. Hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission products remain strategic categories because they require application engineering, technical support and close supplier relationships that are increasingly difficult to build organically.

Based in Merriam, Kansas, IBT Industrial Solutions distributes industrial products and provides engineering services, technical support, and maintenance solutions to customers across a broad range of industrial markets. The addition of Indesco expands the company’s presence in the Southeast while adding expertise in fluid power and power transmission systems, two product categories that remain essential to manufacturing, automation, and industrial maintenance operations.
