Why This Matters to Distributors: Optimum7 has added ecommerce tools that let industrial customers order multiple SKUs at once, search catalogs by technical specifications and calculate prices for products sold by measurement. The tools target purchasing processes that can be difficult to handle through conventional ecommerce product pages.
Optimum7 has added bulk ordering, technical search and pricing tools aimed at making it easier for distributors and manufacturers to process complex B2B orders online.
The Coral Gables, Florida based ecommerce development firm said customers using its bulk ordering tools can enter or paste multiple product codes and quantities into a single order or upload an Excel file. The system checks the entries before adding products to the shopping cart and supports downloadable order templates and reordering from previous purchases.
“Moving the add to cart button or making the product image larger does not help a distributor who still has to add eight sizes one at a time,” Duran Inci, CEO of Ecommerce.com and Optimum7, said. “We start with how the customer is trying to place the order. That tells us what functionality needs to be there before the visual work matters.”
Optimum7 said the ordering system can be customized for specific industries. Automotive and machinery distributors, for example, can include fields such as year, make and model to help customers identify compatible products.
The company also has added search capabilities that allow customers to find products using stock keeping units, part numbers, fitment information, and technical specifications. The functionality uses structured product data available within Shopify and BigCommerce to narrow search results.
Optimum7 also offers a pricing calculator for products sold by measurement rather than by individual units. Customers can enter square footage, weight, volume, perimeter or other measurements, and the system calculates the price using formulas assigned to individual products.
The pricing tool is available for BigCommerce, Shopify and Magento. Optimum7’s bulk ordering functionality is available for Shopify and BigCommerce.
Optimum7 did not disclose pricing for the tools or how many distributors and manufacturers currently use them.
The company said the tools are intended for industrial transactions in which customers may already know the SKUs, specifications, and quantities they need. Bulk ordering and technical search can allow those customers to place orders without repeatedly navigating individual product pages.
Founded in 2007, Optimum7 develops and migrates ecommerce sites for manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers. The company said it has completed more than 1,000 ecommerce platform migrations and works with BigCommerce, Shopify Plus, Magento, WooCommerce, Volusion and other platforms.
