Why It Matters to Distributors :The acquisition strengthens Hillman’s position in industrial MRO with a broader, higher-spec product lineup and domestic manufacturing, increasing competition for distributors while expanding sourcing options in chain and lifting categories.
Hillman Solutions Corp. said Monday it has acquired Campbell Chain & Fittings from Apex Tool Group, expanding its presence in industrial maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) and broadening its portfolio of chain products used across commercial and industrial markets.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Cincinnati-based hardware supplier said the acquisition adds U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities and extends its chain assortment into higher-grade products, including grade 70, grade 80 and grade 100 chain used in lifting, towing, and heavy-duty applications. Campbell’s product line also includes forged fittings, overhead lifting components, and material-handling equipment.
Hillman expects the business to contribute more than $20 million in net sales in fiscal 2026.
Chief executive Jon Michael Adinolfi said Campbell’s customer base and product mix will complement Hillman’s existing operations. “Campbell is a well-respected manufacturer and supplier of chain and related products with a diverse set of customers that will make a great addition to Hillman,” he said in a statement.
The acquisition builds on Hillman’s earlier push into the chain category through its 2024 purchase of Koch Industries’ chain business. Executives said the Campbell deal deepens that position while increasing exposure to industrial and commercial end markets, which make up most Campbell’s sales.
Campbell, founded in 1919, serves customers across agriculture, construction, marine, government and industrial sectors in the United States and Canada. The company operates manufacturing and forging facilities in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
Hillman said the deal supports its strategy to expand in industrial MRO, an area it has identified as a growth priority alongside its traditional retail and hardware distribution channels.
