Wesco Opens Texas Center to Speed AI Data Center Installation

Why This Matters to Distributors: Wesco’s investment expands its role in preparing equipment for customer projects. Assembly and inspection services can reduce work at construction sites while giving distributors more responsibility for project execution.

Wesco International has opened its first technology deployment center in Irving, Texas, expanding its services for customers building data centers that support artificial intelligence.

The Pittsburgh-based distributor said the facility is designed to help customers install technology infrastructure faster and reduce the need for labor at project sites. Wesco confirmed the opening through its Data Center Solutions business in a post shared on the company’s corporate LinkedIn page.

Wesco’s hiring materials for its Irving operations describe work that includes assembling equipment racks and cabinets, installing servers and network switches, and preparing systems to meet individual customer requirements. Employees also install power distribution units and cable management systems, inspect completed assemblies and check equipment against customer specifications before shipment.

The work extends beyond assembly. Employees coordinate with project teams to meet delivery schedules, organize materials for installation, and maintain project documentation and inventory records, according to the company’s job descriptions. Together, those responsibilities give Wesco a larger role in preparing equipment before it reaches a customer’s site.

The opening comes as data centers generate substantial growth for Wesco. The company reported second-quarter data center sales of $1.5 billion, up approximately 45% from a year earlier. Total company sales rose 13% to about $6.7 billion.

Wesco also expanded its data center services through its July 1 acquisition of Singapore-based Newark Engineering Group, a provider of engineered cooling systems and services. The acquisition and Irving operation add technical capabilities around the infrastructure Wesco supplies to data center customers.
