Why This Matters to Distributors: Sonepar is adding engineering and automation expertise to its electrical distribution business, expanding the services it can provide manufacturers. The acquisition positions the company to take on more complex projects while continuing to work with outside systems integrators.
Sonepar has acquired EOSYS, an industrial automation company based in Smyrna, Tennessee, expanding its engineering services for manufacturers seeking to automate and modernize operations.
The electrical distributor announced the acquisition Nov. 3. Financial terms were not disclosed. EOSYS adds expertise in automation, engineering and connecting industrial systems, complementing Sonepar’s existing panel assembly and power infrastructure services.
Sonepar said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to organize and deliver increasingly complex industrial projects as customers seek partners with expertise across multiple technical disciplines.
“EOSYS will enable us to deliver a better customer experience by adding specialized capabilities that complement our current industrial services offerings like panel design and assembly, power substation engineering and distribution, and switchgear panel assembly,” said Rob Taylor, president of Sonepar Americas.
Founded in 1991, EOSYS helps manufacturers automate equipment, connect systems and modernize production operations.
Sonepar emphasized that outside systems integrators, or companies that connect equipment, software and controls, will remain central to its industrial strategy. The company described EOSYS as one part of a broader network of partners it uses to match customers with specialized services.
Sonepar, a family-owned distributor of electrical products and related services, reported 2025 sales of €33.6 billion, approximately $37.9 billion using the average exchange rate cited in the announcement. The company operates in 40 countries and employs about 46,000 people.
Its U.S. business, established in 1998, has more than 571 locations and 12,700 employees.
