What This Means to Distributors: TopBuild is tightening alignment between distribution, supply chain and M&A, reinforcing a model that links product distribution more closely with installation services as consolidation continues.
TopBuild Corp. is promoting chief operating officer John Achille to president and chief operating officer, expanding his oversight across the company’s installation services, specialty distribution and growth strategy.
The promotion is effective immediately.
Achille will continue to report to CEO Robert Buck and take on responsibility for day-to-day operations across TopBuild’s Installation Services and Specialty Distribution segments, along with the company’s supply chain organization and mergers and acquisitions.
TopBuild operates both as an installer of insulation and commercial roofing and as a specialty distributor of insulation and related building products. Its distribution network includes more than 250 branches across the United States and Canada.
Buck said Achille has helped shape the company’s operating structure and leadership team.
“John is a purpose-driven leader who has managed nearly all of our businesses and has delivered outstanding results,” Buck said. “He is the right leader to take on this role as we continue to drive profitable growth and deliver operational excellence.”
Achille joined TopBuild in 2021 through its acquisition of American Building Systems. He has since held leadership roles across several business units, including Distribution International, Service Partners and TruTeam. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of TruTeam before being named COO.
In a statement, Achille said the company remains “well diversified” and positioned for long-term growth.
The move centralizes operational control, supply chain oversight and acquisition strategy under a single executive as TopBuild continues to scale its distribution and installation businesses.
