Cheney Brothers to Expand South Carolina Distribution Center with $42.5 Million Investment

Cheney Brothers Inc., a Florida-based foodservice distributor, plans to expand its distribution center in Florence County, South Carolina, with a $42.5 million investment expected to create 85 jobs.

The company will expand its facility in Florence, which opened in 2023 and serves restaurants, healthcare providers, hospitality businesses, and other foodservice customers across the Southeast.

The expansion will increase warehouse and logistics capacity to support growing regional demand for foodservice products, according to state and local economic development officials.

Cheney Brothers, headquartered in Riviera Beach, Florida, distributes a broad range of products including meat, seafood, dairy, frozen foods, and dry groceries. The company also supplies food service equipment and provides kitchen design services for commercial operators.

Once the project is completed, Cheney Brothers’ total investment in Florence County will reach approximately $108.5 million, supporting about 365 jobs at the facility.

South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for the project. The council also awarded a $200,000 Set-Aside grant to Florence County to help fund site preparation and building improvements tied to the expansion.

Cheney Brothers operates multiple distribution centers across the United States and supplies independent restaurants, chains, healthcare facilities, schools, and other institutional foodservice operators. The Florence facility serves as a key logistics hub for the company’s operations in the Southeast.

The expansion is expected to increase the facility’s storage and distribution capacity as the company continues to expand its food service distribution network in the region.
