Why It Matters to Distributors: The alliance reflects increasing consolidation pressure in packaging and facility supplies distribution as companies scale to win national accounts and improve purchasing leverage.
Network Distribution is now live with a completed strategic alliance with Packaging Distributors of America, beginning the integration of PDA’s members, customers, and suppliers into its platform, with the transition expected to be completed by July 1.
The combined organization will operate under the Network Distribution name, led by president and CEO Alan Tomblin. PDA founder George Strobel will not take on an operating leadership role in the combined entity.
Network Distribution, which reports systemwide revenue of about $28 billion, operates more than 850 distribution centers across 52 countries. The alliance expands its reach in packaging, janitorial and foodservice supply categories and adds PDA’s network of independent distributors.
The integration will focus on aligning supplier programs, customer agreements, and operational systems. Network Distribution said it has begun transitioning PDA members into its procurement and supply chain infrastructure.
The transaction brings together two member-based distribution organizations with overlapping market coverage, increasing Network Distribution’s scale in segments where national account capabilities and supplier alignment are increasingly critical.
Company executives said the organizations share a similar operating model built on local distribution supported by centralized resources. Tomblin cited the combined company’s financial scale and supplier relationships as key to expanding service capabilities across markets.
The deal comes amid ongoing consolidation across packaging and facility supplies distribution, as companies seek greater purchasing power, broader geographic coverage, and more standardized offerings for multilocation customers.
