Why This Matters to Distributors: Water and wastewater remain among the most active acquisition targets in industrial distribution. The sector offers recurring service revenue, infrastructure-driven demand and specialized technical expertise that can be difficult to build organically.
DXP Enterprises has acquired General Repair Service, a Minnesota-based provider of pumps, blowers and related process equipment serving municipal water, wastewater and industrial customers.
Founded in 1955, General Repair operates from a single location in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, serving customers across the state and surrounding markets. The company provides equipment sales, repair services and technical support for water and wastewater systems and industrial process applications.
DXP said it funded the acquisition with cash from its balance sheet. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
General Repair generated approximately $12.2 million in revenue and $1.6 million in adjusted EBITDA during the 12 months ending March 31.
The acquisition expands DXP’s water and wastewater platform, a strategic area of focus as utilities, municipalities and industrial operators continue investing in aging infrastructure, treatment facilities, and reliability upgrades.
“General Repair adds another great company to our water and wastewater platform,” says DXP CEO David Little. “General Repair provides DXP with an exceptional business that leads with service, accompanied by tremendous technical sales expertise.”
Chief financial officer Kent Yee said the acquisition strengthens DXP Water’s product and service capabilities and supports the company’s efforts to build a broader platform serving water and wastewater customers.
The transaction is DXP’s fourth acquisition this year, continuing a strategy that has emphasized specialized industrial markets where distributors can combine product sales with engineering, maintenance, and repair services.
Houston-based DXP distributes maintenance, repair, operating, and production products and provides pumping, supply chain and industrial service solutions throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. The company’s operations are organized into three segments: Service Centers, Innovative Pumping Solutions and Supply Chain Services.
For DXP, the acquisition deepens its presence in a market where customers increasingly value technical expertise and field service capabilities alongside equipment availability. For General Repair, the deal provides access to a larger distribution network and broader resources as demand for water and wastewater infrastructure projects continues to grow.
