Why This Matters to Distributors: The transition from emergency response to site recovery suggests Medline’s network contingency plans are stabilizing. The company is now focused on restoring service levels, supporting affected employees and maintaining medical supply deliveries across Northern California.
Medline said Wednesday that local authorities have indicated the fire at its Tracy distribution center is nearing full containment, allowing the medical supplier to assume control of the site and advance recovery efforts one week after the blaze destroyed the facility.
The company said the fire department transferred control of the property Wednesday morning to Medline and environmental services contractor Clean Harbors, marking a shift from active firefighting operations to cleanup and remediation.
Clean Harbors has established a community hotline for residents with questions related to the site. The hotline is staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific time.
Medline also said it donated gloves and N95 respirators to Fire Station 95 in Tracy for distribution to residents.
The company continues to address the impact on employees affected by the June 11 fire. Medline said it is relocating employee vehicles from the facility to a secure area near the site’s perimeter, assessing damage and arranging professional cleaning and safety inspections before returning the vehicles to workers.
The Tracy facility was part of Medline’s Northern California distribution network. Following the fire, the company activated contingency plans that shifted inventory and customer orders to other distribution centers within its network.
As recovery operations continue, Medline said it is implementing additional measures to improve delivery speed, coordination, and supply chain visibility. The company plans to provide affected healthcare customers with daily updates on order status and fulfillment as it works to maintain supply continuity.
The update comes as crews continue recovery operations at the site after several days of firefighting efforts. Local officials previously reported that portions of the building’s exterior walls were being removed to access remaining hot spots and reduce smoke emissions.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Neither Medline nor local authorities have released findings regarding what sparked the blaze.
Medline has not announced plans for rebuilding the facility or disclosed the estimated financial impact of the loss. However, Wednesday’s transfer of site control marks a significant milestone in the company’s transition from emergency response to long-term recovery and supply chain restoration.
