Why This Matters to Distributors: The packaging distribution sector continues to consolidate as larger distributors seek expanded geographic coverage, fulfillment capabilities, and specialized packaging expertise. The acquisition strengthens SupplyOne’s position in New England while broadening its reach into high-growth end markets, including life sciences, technology, and defense.
SupplyOne has acquired Compass Packaging Solutions, a Massachusetts-based provider of protective packaging, warehousing, and fulfillment services, continuing the distributor’s expansion strategy in the Northeast. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Compass Packaging Solutions, headquartered in North Billerica, Massachusetts, provides custom protective packaging as well as warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, and kitting services for customers in life sciences, semiconductor, technology, and defense sectors. Founder and owner Rick Meissner will continue to lead the business following the acquisition.
The deal strengthens SupplyOne’s footprint in New England and adds capabilities in protective packaging, a segment the company identified as a strategic growth priority.
“The addition of Compass Packaging Solutions strengthens our presence in New England while adding meaningful capabilities in protective packaging, a key strategic priority for SupplyOne,” President and CEO Todd Renehan said in a statement.
The acquisition marks SupplyOne’s 48th transaction since the company was founded in 1998 and its third acquisition in the past three years involving a significant protective packaging business. The company said the deal expands its geographic reach and enhances its portfolio of value-added packaging services across North America.
Meissner said the combination will provide Compass customers with access to additional resources and capabilities while maintaining the company’s customer-focused approach.
SupplyOne operates more than 60 locations across the United States and Canada and provides packaging products, custom corrugated solutions, and foam, wood, and plastic converting services. The company has pursued an acquisition-driven growth strategy to expand its regional presence and service offerings.
The transaction reflects continued merger-and-acquisition activity in the packaging distribution market as distributors seek greater scale, expanded logistics capabilities, and broader product portfolios to serve customers’ evolving supply chain needs.
