Why It Matters to Distributors: The move highlights growing investment in distribution infrastructure as companies compete on inventory availability and delivery speed.
Winsupply Inc. plans to expand its distribution network with a new facility in Atlanta and upgrades to existing sites in Ohio and Oklahoma, as the distributor moves to increase capacity and improve product availability across its footprint.
The Dayton, Ohio-based company said it will add about 1.6 million square feet of distribution space over the next two years. The plan includes the purchase of a 1.17 million-square-foot distribution center in the Atlanta area, along with expansions of its facilities in Dayton, Ohio (about 200,000 square feet), and Oklahoma City (about 254,000 square feet), according to a company news release issued March 23.
The Atlanta site will serve as a new regional hub, while the Dayton and Oklahoma City projects will expand existing operations.
Winsupply said the additional capacity is intended to support its network of more than 680 locally owned companies operating across plumbing, HVAC, electrical and waterworks markets.
“At our core, Winsupply is an engine for entrepreneurship,” President Jeff Dice said in the release. “These investments ensure our local companies have the resources they need to win.”
Robert DiTommaso, president of Winsupply Support Services Group, said the expansion is designed to improve product depth and availability across the network.
The company said construction is underway, with the Dayton expansion expected to be completed by fall 2027.
Winsupply reported approximately $8.4 billion in annual sales and about 9,500 employees, according to the company.
