Bluon Launches PartsConnect to Link HVAC Technicians With Local Distributor Inventory

Why This Matters to Distributors: PartsConnect puts local distributor inventory in front of HVAC technicians at the moment they need a part.

Bluon, an AI and data company serving the HVAC industry, has launched PartsConnect, a new feature within its technician app and field service management plug-in that connects contractors with compatible replacement parts carried by local suppliers.

The feature draws on Bluon’s database of more than 30 million unique model numbers spanning more than 240 original equipment manufacturers, including original manuals, detailed specifications, and complete parts lists. A technician can scan a unit’s model number in the field and see which compatible replacement parts are stocked by nearby distributors, reducing the time spent on phone calls, counter visits, and manual compatibility research.

“Identifying compatible replacement part options is hard enough, but trying to determine if a local distributor carries any of those compatible options has historically been a massive friction point for HVAC shops,” said Peter Capuciati, chief executive officer of Bluon. “We believe we have finally cracked the code to this enormous challenge.”

PartsConnect is designed to address several recurring problems in HVAC service work, including difficulty sourcing discontinued parts, uncertainty about whether substitute components meet equipment specifications and dependence on distributor counter staff to perform compatibility research on behalf of technicians.

For distributors, the feature shifts how their inventory becomes findable. Instead of waiting for a technician to call or visit the counter, distributors participating in the Bluon network have their parts availability surfaced inside the workflow where purchasing decisions are being made. Distributors without a presence in tools like PartsConnect risk being passed over in favor of suppliers whose inventory is visible at the point of need.

As AI-driven platforms accumulate equipment data and purchasing history, the companies controlling that data gain influence over where parts transactions originate. Bluon’s database of technical equipment data positions the company inside that process, with PartsConnect as the transactional layer connecting that data to local distributor inventory.
