RelaDyne Acquires Chart Distribution Group to Strengthen Midwest Lubricant Distribution

Why This Matters to Distributors: The acquisition expands RelaDyne’s lubricant distribution network in the Midwest and underscores continued consolidation in the lubricants market as distributors seek greater geographic coverage and broader product portfolios.

RelaDyne has acquired Chart Distribution Group, a St. Louis-based distributor of lubricants, automotive detailing products and related automotive supplies, expanding its presence in the Midwest.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1974, Chart Distribution Group serves automotive and commercial customers throughout the Midwest with lubricants, detailing products and other automotive solutions. The company has built a regional distribution network serving customers across multiple generations.

The acquisition adds Chart Distribution Group’s operations and customer base to RelaDyne’s Midwest business, expanding the company’s distribution footprint in the region.

“Chart Distribution Group has built meaningful customer relationships across the Midwest market, and the team brings valuable regional expertise to our organization,” RelaDyne Chief Executive Officer Eric Royse said in a statement.

Chief Strategy Officer David Schumacher said the acquisition supports RelaDyne’s Midwest expansion strategy and strengthens the company’s ability to serve customers across the region.

Chart Distribution group president Frank Palazzo said joining RelaDyne will provide customers with access to a broader portfolio of products and services while maintaining the company’s local customer relationships.

Based in Cincinnati, RelaDyne is one of the nation’s largest distributors of lubricants and also supplies fuel, diesel exhaust fluid, industrial reliability services and related products to commercial and industrial customers. The company has expanded its North American footprint through a series of acquisitions in recent years.

The transaction continues a broader trend of consolidation in the lubricants distribution industry, as larger distributors acquire regional operators to expand market coverage, increase scale and add customers in key geographic markets.
