Parspec Launches Project Management Tool for Distributors

Why This Matters to Distributors: Distributors managing project-based sales face high labor costs and fragmented workflows; tools that connect quoting, execution and customer visibility could reduce cost to serve, improve win rates, and accelerate billing.

Parspec is debuting a project management application aimed at helping wholesale distributors manage post-award work on construction projects.

The tool connects quoting with downstream execution, including order management, fulfillment, change orders and billing, and provides contractors with real-time updates on order and delivery status. Parspec said the application integrates with distributors’ enterprise resource planning systems and is intended to replace processes often managed through email, spreadsheets, and multiple software tools.

The product was developed with input from distributors including Rexel, Border States, USESI and Connexion, Parspec said.

Project-based distribution remains operationally complex. Parspec said project managers at distributors spend an average of 68 hours managing every $100,000 in goods sold. Contractors can lose up to 25% of labor productivity because of limited access to up-to-date information on materials and delivery schedules, the company said.

The application consolidates project activity into a single system, allowing distributor teams to track orders, changes, and deliveries in one place and share updates directly with customers.

“This advancement strengthens our ability to run and grow our project business with greater accuracy, reliability, and responsiveness,” said Don Masters, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Border States.

Ken Callham, director of project operations at Connexion, said the system is expected to improve efficiency and customer service by consolidating project workflows.

Parspec said early users expect improvements including a 30% increase in project manager capacity, up to 6% higher win rates with existing customers and 10% faster billing cycles. Those estimates are based on company data and customer feedback.

Founded in 2021, Parspec provides quoting and project management software focused on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing distribution. The company said its platform is used by more than 300 distributors and manufacturers’ representative agencies.

The launch reflects broader investment across wholesale distribution in software tools to automate sales and operations, particularly in construction-related markets where project complexity can constrain efficiency and margins.
