Border States Electric has promoted four longtime employee-owners to vice president positions, underscoring its commitment to developing internal leadership and advancing its 100% employee-owned culture.
The Fargo-based distributor said the leadership moves reflect a broader effort to strengthen oversight in finance, services, and category management — three areas it views as critical to supporting growth and operational efficiency across its 31-state network.
Nick Longfors was promoted to vice president of finance, financial planning, and analysis. Longfors joined Border States in 2002 as a finance intern and has held roles across finance and operations during his 23-year tenure. “I believe deeply in our ownership culture and the extra effort it brings to everything we do,” Longfors said. “There is no better company than Border States, and I’m honored to apply my talents here in a new way.”
Cedrick Phillips was named vice president of services. Phillips began his Border States career in 2012 as part of the company’s distribution leadership trainee program and has since worked in operations, warehouse management, and branch leadership. Most recently, he served as director of services. “Border States’ Services set us apart, allowing us to deepen our impact across the organization and strengthen cross-functional partnerships to deliver meaningful solutions to our customers,” Phillips said.
Tom Roehrich was appointed vice president of category management. He joined the company in 2018 as a strategic pricing manager and rose to senior director of category management before his promotion. “I’m humbled by the opportunity to lead this group and continue advancing our roadmap focused on vendor engagement that truly moves us forward,” Roehrich said.
Lori Schramm was promoted to vice president of finance, corporate controller. Schramm joined Border States in 2021 as director of finance – corporate controller, bringing prior experience in public accounting and financial leadership. “What excites me most is the opportunity to continue serving our incredible teams,” Schramm said. “This next chapter is about building on our strong foundation, driving meaningful change, and celebrating the success we create together.”
