Cardinal Health has opened a 350,000-square-foot consumer health logistics center in Groveport, Ohio, as part of its strategy to expand pharmaceutical distribution capacity and improve supply chain efficiency.
The facility is purpose-built as a centralized replenishment hub for over-the-counter consumer health products. It uses automation and a hub-and-spoke logistics model to optimize inventory across the company’s pharmaceutical distribution network.
“This first-of-its-kind hub marks another key milestone in our multi-year strategy to expand capacity and drive efficiencies across our pharmaceutical distribution network,” said Debbie Weitzman, CEO of Cardinal Health’s pharmaceutical and specialty solutions segment.
The center incorporates robotics, automated labeling, and high-speed conveyors designed to improve pick-and-pack accuracy, reduce physical strain on employees, and streamline operations. Safety features include underground wire-guided forklifts to help prevent collisions.
Jamie Barker, senior vice president of pharmaceutical and specialty supply chain, said the facility is intended to improve accuracy, speed, and reliability while supporting employee safety and positioning the company to scale operations.
Over the past five years, Cardinal Health has invested more than $115 million in Ohio, including the construction of four new distribution centers and upgrades to existing facilities.
