Construction spending in September 2024 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2,148.8 billion, 0.1% above August, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The September figure is 4.6% above September 2023. During the first nine months of this year, construction spending was $1,646.0 billion, 7.3% higher than the same period in 2023.
Spending on private construction was virtually unchanged from August. Residential construction was 0.2% above August.
Nonresidential construction was 0.5% above August. Educational construction was 0.3% above August. Highway construction was up 0.5%.
