Core & Main Inc. (NYSE: CNM), St. Louis, Mo., reported sales were $1.8 billion, up 0.5% in the third quarter from a year ago. Profit fell 11.2% to $158 million.

The distributor of infrastructure products opened two new locations in the quarter in Spokane, Wash., and Fontana, Calif.
Sales of PVF products were lower, storm drainage products higher, fire protection products lower, and meter products were higher in the quarter.
Sales in the first nine months ended Oct. 29, 2023, were down $15 million, or 0.3%, to $5.2 billion. Profit year-to-date was $455 million, down 8.5%.
