Distributor Data Solutions has launched an Acadia app for Shopify that delivers manufacturer-approved product data directly to Shopify storefronts used by distributors and manufacturers.
The app connects Shopify sites to DDS’ Acadia product content platform, allowing users to publish and maintain product information without manual file uploads, spreadsheet management, or custom data imports. DDS said the integration is aimed at B2B sellers managing large and frequently updated product catalogs.
According to DDS, Acadia aggregates product content from more than 1,700 manufacturers and distributes it to more than 450 distributors across industrial, electrical, plumbing, HVACR, construction and maintenance, repair, and operations markets. The Shopify app pulls from that same data set, including specifications, images, documents and attributes, and updates storefront listings automatically as manufacturers revise their information.
Product data accuracy and completeness remain persistent challenges for distributors expanding e-commerce assortments, particularly as catalogs scale to hundreds of thousands or millions of stockkeeping units. DDS said the app is designed to reduce the operational effort required to keep Shopify catalogs current.
The integration also supports optional enhancements from Acadia AI, including standardized product titles, bullet points, feature descriptions, and product categorization. DDS said those enhancements are applied on top of manufacturer-approved content rather than replacing it.
“Distributors don’t want their teams buried in spreadsheets just to keep a Shopify site up and running,” said Matt Christensen, president and co-founder of DDS. “With the Acadia App for Shopify, we’ve taken what DDS does best—delivering clean, manufacturer-approved product data at scale—and put it directly into the Shopify ecosystem.”
DDS also positioned the app as a channel tool for manufacturers that use Shopify for direct sales or to support distributor partners. By distributing standardized product data through Acadia, manufacturers can maintain consistent product representation across multiple Shopify storefronts and speed onboarding for distributors adopting the platform, the company said.
