DigiKey has launched an online tool that lets engineers and system designers configure custom power-supply units, a move the distributor says will shorten design timelines and simplify sourcing.
The new configurator allows users to specify requirements such as outputs, voltage and current, then generates a tailored power-supply design that can be assembled and shipped within days. The tool is hosted on DigiKey’s website and is intended to replace a process that often requires back-and-forth review with suppliers.
“This tool allows our customers to configure their own power supply independently,” said Heather Fulara, DigiKey’s senior director of interconnect and electromechanical, in a statement. “It reduces the time it takes to acquire a configured unit, which supports more efficient workflows.”
The first products available through the platform are Vox Power’s NEVO+ and VCCM series. Marco Prinsloo, co-owner of Vox Power, said the company’s participation is meant to provide a more direct path for customers who need configurable units. “We trust DigiKey’s expertise in making our customers’ designs come together through its online design and customization options,” he said.
DigiKey said additional suppliers and product families will be added to the tool over time.
