Global Industrial Co. on Tuesday introduced a plastic guard rail system aimed at improving workplace safety and reducing maintenance and floor-repair costs for industrial and commercial facilities.
The product, part of the company’s Global Industrial Exclusive Brands portfolio, is designed to absorb impact during collisions to help protect workers, equipment, and inventory. Global Industrial said the patent-pending design is intended to limit damage to floors and reduce the need for rail replacement compared with traditional steel systems.
The company said the system includes optional drop-in and lift-out rail brackets that allow sections to be removed for equipment movement or maintenance, a feature intended to shorten installation and service time.
According to Global Industrial, the guard rail system is compliant with ANSI I 9-7 standards when installed as a complete system and carries an impact rating of 20,000 joules, equivalent to 9,000 pounds at 7 miles per hour. The rails are resistant to rust, corrosion, chipping, and flaking, and are rated UL94 V2 for flame resistance. The company said the product is designed to perform in temperatures ranging from minus 94 degrees Fahrenheit to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
The plastic guard rails are available in 17 stock keeping units, including three post heights—18 inches, 42 inches and 60 inches—three post styles and eight rail lengths ranging from 3 feet to 10 feet, allowing customers to configure layouts based on facility requirements.
Global Industrial distributes industrial equipment and supplies to business and public-sector customers across North America. The company said the new guard rail system expands its offerings in facility safety and material handling products as warehouse and manufacturing operators continue to invest in infrastructure to improve safety and control operating costs.
