GrubMarket, a San Francisco–based food technology company and one of the largest farm-to-business distributors in North America, has introduced a new reporting AI agent to its GrubAssist AI platform. The tool is designed to automate routine reporting tasks that food wholesalers and distributors often manage manually through enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
The new release is the third specialized AI agent in GrubMarket’s portfolio, following earlier tools for order and inventory management. Built specifically for the food supply chain, the reporting agent generates scheduled business reports that typically consume hours of staff time. These include weekly shipment volumes, shifts in customer ordering patterns, sales performance by representatives, and outstanding account balances. Reports are delivered directly to managers with charts and downloadable spreadsheets.
“Food distribution is a margin-sensitive industry where efficiency is everything,” said Mike Xu, founder and CEO of GrubMarket. “We are empowering wholesalers and distributors to be proactive, not reactive.”
AI Tailored to Food Distribution
GrubMarket said the agent draws on its proprietary food supply chain industry knowledge graph and can orchestrate workflows across APIs and browser functions. The system can create and executing queries, sending notifications, and adjusting reporting schedules with contextual awareness of food industry terminology. It also integrates with third-party business intelligence applications.
Chief software product officer Genevieve Wang said the launch reflects GrubMarket’s “agentic architecture” strategy, in which AI tools not only deliver data but also execute multi-step processes to provide actionable insights. For distributors, which means quicker visibility into shifts in customer demand, improved margin protection, and reduced time spent on repetitive reporting.
Founded in 2014, GrubMarket supplies fresh food to customers ranging from grocery chains and meal kit companies to food service providers. The company has built a technology platform to connect farmers, wholesalers, and distributors with buyers, while expanding its reach across all 50 U.S. states and internationally in Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
With the latest AI reporting agent, GrubMarket is extending its push to digitize one of the most complex supply chains in the global economy, offering food distributors new tools to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
