Home Depot Names a New CIO Focused on AI and Contractors

The Home Depot has named Angie Brown executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO), advancing a 27-year company veteran to lead its expanding use of artificial intelligence and automation—particularly in service of its fast-growing base of professional contractors and tradespeople.

Brown steps into the CIO role following the retirement of Fahim Siddiqui, who helped modernize the retailer’s technology infrastructure. Her appointment comes as Home Depot doubles down on integrating AI across its operations, from inventory and logistics to digital search and personalized Pro tools.

With Pro customers now accounting for more than half of total sales, Home Depot is investing heavily in smart technologies that reduce friction, improve efficiency, and better predict customer needs. AI is central to that effort.

“Angie has a proven record of using technology to solve real business problems,” said Ted Decker, Chair, president, and CEO of The Home Depot. “She’s played a key role in shaping how we use AI to improve planning, procurement, and fulfillment for our Pro customers. As CIO, she’ll take that work to the next level.”

Brown has already led several foundational AI initiatives at Home Depot. Among them:

  • Predictive inventory management that uses historical trends and real-time sales data to keep high-demand items in stock at local levels.
  • Smart fulfillment routing to determine the fastest, most efficient way to deliver orders across Home Depot’s network of 2,350 stores and 800 distribution centers.
  • AI-enhanced product search that helps contractors find the exact materials they need faster, even across complex product categories.
  • Real-time order tracking and intelligent substitution systems, which offer alternatives when items are out of stock—critical for avoiding job site delays.

She also played a key role in evolving the company’s Pro Xtra loyalty platform, which now uses machine learning to offer personalized dashboards for spend tracking, invoice management, and even project scheduling suggestions.

Home Depot CIO Angie Brown

Brown began her career at Home Depot as a systems analyst in the late 1990s and rose through senior roles in software engineering, enterprise architecture, and IT strategy. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President of IT, helping deploy AI across merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and e-commerce.

In her new role, Brown will oversee all areas of Home Depot’s technology organization, including cybersecurity, infrastructure, digital platforms, and operational systems. A top priority will be expanding AI applications across the enterprise to create faster, smarter, and more reliable customer experiences, especially for Pro customers managing complex, time-sensitive projects.

“Technology should enable people, not get in their way,” said Brown. “For our Pro customers, which means getting exactly what they need—quickly, reliably, and without surprises. AI is helping us make that possible every day.”

As competition grows in the B2B and contractor supply space, Brown’s appointment signals Home Depot’s intent to lead not just with inventory, but with intelligence—helping professionals spend less time sourcing materials, and more time getting the job done.
