Spending in the first six months of 2023 was $917.4 billion, up 3% from the prior-year period.
Private construction spending was up 0.5% from May. Residential construction was up 0.9% from May. Nonresidential construction was virtually unchanged from May.
The estimated seasonally adjusted annual rate of public construction spending in June 2023 was 0.3% above May. Educational construction was down 0.1% from May. Highway construction was down 0.1% from May.
