NAW Joins 400 Business Leaders to Urge Congress to Intervene in Rail Strike

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) has joined over 400 businesses to issue a joint letter to Congress urging legislators to take action to prevent an impending rail strike. NAW writes that the rail strike could cause an economic and supply chain catastrophe.

“Delivering for America is what our industry does best. A strike of this nature will bring the free flow of critical goods and services in America to a halt, hamstring an already fragile supply chain during a time of continued economic uncertainty, and lead the country down an untenable path. Should Congress fail to prevent a major rail strike, it would cost the United States economy at least $2 billion daily.” NAW Vice President of Government Relations Seth Waugh said.

Update: The House today (Nov. 30) approved a tentative deal to halt the strike. Read more here:

Waugh says that while President Joe Biden worked with rail worker unions to come to an agreement in September, several Union Bosses have since backtracked and are now “attempting to hold America’s economy hostage by beckoning a crisis that is 100% preventable.”
