New orders for manufactured durable goods in June, up four consecutive months, increased $13.6 billion or 4.7% to $302.5 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced.

This followed a 2% May increase. Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.6%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 6.2%. Transportation equipment, also up four consecutive months, led the increase, $12.4 billion or 12.1% to $115.3 billion.
