Privacy Policy

PRIVACY POLICY FOR DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY GROUP

Distribution Strategy Group (“Distribution Strategy Group,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information belonging to residents of the United States in accordance with applicable U.S. state privacy laws, including those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. 

 

1. SCOPE AND DEFINITIONS 

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through our website (the “Website”), programs, webinars, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked with you (as defined under applicable law). 

 

2. CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT 

We collect information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you. In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of Personal Information: 

A. Identifiers and Contact Information 

Examples include: real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol (IP) address, email address, account name, phone number, and other similar identifiers. 

B. Professional or Employment Information (Business Contacts) 

Examples include: job title, employer, professional role and responsibilities, and work history. 

C. Commercial Information 

Examples include: records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered. 

D. Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information 

Examples include: browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with our Website, content, emails, or advertisements. 

E. Registration, Webinar, and Program Participation Information 

We may collect personal information in connection with webinar or program registration and participation, including: name, job title, company name and business address, email address, phone number, industry, company size, and engagement data such as attendance records, duration of attendance, questions submitted, poll responses, chat messages/comments, and downloads of materials. 

F. Geolocation Data 

We may collect imprecise location information (such as city, state, and ZIP code associated with your IP address). We also state that we collect precise geolocation in certain contexts. 

G. Account Credentials and Similar Sensitive Information 

We collect account login credentials. 

H. Sensitive Personal Information 

We state that we collect sensitive personal information, including precise geolocation and account login credentials. In certain jurisdictions, we may collect information revealing racial or ethnic origin or religious beliefs only with your prior opt-in consent. 

I. Employment Information for Distribution Strategy Group Employees (If Applicable) 

For Distribution Strategy Group employees, we may collect: employment history, resume, references, contact information, emergency contact information, professional certifications, associations, disciplines, pay requirements, licenses and certifications held, skills, and experience, including information from consumer reporting agencies when conducting employee background checks. 

 

3. SOURCES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION 

We obtain Personal Information from the following categories of sources: 

Directly from you 

Such as from forms you complete, webinar registrations, subscriptions, programs, and articles you receive. 

Indirectly from you 

Such as from observing your actions on our Website or from information your computer or mobile device transmits when interacting with the Website. 

From third-party data sources 

Such as service providers and consumer reporting agencies (for employee background checks). 

 

4. PURPOSES FOR COLLECTION, USE, AND PROCESSING 

We process Personal Information only for purposes that are reasonably necessary and proportionate to provide our Services and operate our business. Purposes include: 

A. Business and Operational Purposes 

Facilitate transactions and provide customer service. Create and service accounts. Inform our business strategies and conduct product research and development. Monitor and improve programs and services; administer surveys. Manage webinar registration and attendance; provide access to live and recorded content; send event reminders, newsletters, and follow-up communications. Conduct internal research and analytics to improve our offerings. Maintain the security and integrity of our systems. 

B. Communications 

Respond to your requests or inquiries and send you updates or information about our programs and services. 

C. Website Management 

Troubleshoot problems with the Website and improve the Website’s content and functionality. 

D. Marketing, Advertising, Targeted Advertising, and Profiling 

Serve targeted advertising; send email promotions; engage in targeted advertising and profiling to provide relevant industry insights. 

E. Compliance, Legal, and Protection Purposes 

Protect our legal rights and the rights of third parties; comply with legal obligations and lawful requests. 

 

5. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION; “SALE” AND “SHARING” 

We limit the release of information and require privacy protections in our business relationships. We may share Personal Information when required by law or with third parties that perform functions on our behalf or for whom we perform services. We may also share information to protect the interests of individuals or in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale, dissolution, bankruptcy, liquidation, or other strategic business transaction, including due diligence. 

A. Categories of Third Parties We May Disclose To 

We may disclose Personal Information to: (i) employees for business purposes (communicating with you, providing customer service, improving programs/services) and website management; (ii) service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, customer service, webinar platform hosting, transaction processing); (iii) third-party advertising networks and social media platforms for marketing and advertising purposes, including targeted advertisements and analytics/reporting; (iv) sponsors (lead sharing) as described below; (v) government and law enforcement in response to lawful requests or when we believe disclosure is required or appropriate to protect legal rights, prevent harm, or as advised by counsel, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements; (vi) professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, financial and business advisors) as necessary for advice; (vii) new owners or successors in interest in connection with business transactions and due diligence; (viii) business affiliates to facilitate business continuity and transactions within our corporate structure. 

B. Sponsor Lead Sharing (Opt-Out Available) 

Your contact details (name, job title, company, email, and phone) may be shared with event sponsors for follow-up communication. You may opt out of lead-sharing by contacting us at operations@distributionstrategy.com or by using the “unsubscribe” link in email communications. 

C. “Sale” / “Sharing” for Targeted Advertising 

We do not sell your sensitive personal information. We may “sell” or “share” (as defined by applicable state law, including sharing for valuable consideration) other categories of personal data with third parties for targeted advertising. 

D. Rhode Island Specific Disclosure 

We disclose that we share data with categories of third parties including advertising networks, data analytics providers, and professional industry partners. You may request a list of specific third parties to whom we have disclosed your data. 

 

6. COOKIES, ANALYTICS, AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES 

We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and other technologies (collectively, “Cookies”) on our Services to automatically collect information used to improve the Services. A cookie is a small text file that our Services saves onto your computer or device when you use the Website. Cookies may be “session” cookies (deleted when you exit your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remain until expiration or deletion). 

We use third-party software tools to understand how visitors navigate the Website and view content. We use the analytics information collected through Cookies to improve the Website, make it easier to use, and develop content that is interesting and customized. 

HubSpot Analytics 

We use HubSpot Analytics, a web analytics tool, to assist in understanding how our Website is used. HubSpot Analytics uses tracking technologies to generate information we select about your use of our Services, which may include information about online services visited before a device accesses our Services, performance metrics, and information about how devices access our Services. 

 

7. DATA RETENTION AND MINIMIZATION 

We do not retain Personal Information longer than is relevant and reasonably necessary for the disclosed purposes of collection, and we retain Personal Information only as long as we have a legitimate business purpose to do so. Legitimate purposes may include completing the transaction for which the Personal Information was collected, continuing our ongoing business relationship with you, and satisfying legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or reporting requirements. 

In determining retention periods, we consider the nature and sensitivity of Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process it and whether we can fulfill those purposes through other means, and applicable requirements. 

Account Data 

Retained for the duration of your active relationship with us plus 3 years for legal and audit purposes. 

Marketing Data 

Retained for 18 months from your last interaction. 

Sensitive Data 

Retained only for the duration strictly necessary to fulfill the specific request for which it was collected. 

 

8. SECURITY 

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your Personal Information. We conduct regular risk assessments and cybersecurity audits to help ensure protections remain effective against evolving threats. When disclosing Personal Information, you should remain mindful that there is always risk in sending Personal Information using the internet. 

 

9. DE-IDENTIFIED / AGGREGATED DATA 

We may aggregate or de-identify Personal Information collected through our Website and when operating our business (for example, to calculate the percentage of users in a particular ZIP code). Once information has been de-identified and/or aggregated, it is no longer Personal Information. 

 

10. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (STATE-SPECIFIC) 

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights regarding your Personal Information: 

Right to Know & Access 

Request to know what data we collect and access it. For California residents, this includes data collected since January 1, 2022. 

Right to Correct 

Request correction of inaccurate Personal Information. 

Right to Delete 

Request deletion of Personal Information we have collected from you. 

Right to Portability 

Request a copy of your data in a portable, readily usable format. 

Right to Opt Out 

Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your data for targeted advertising and/or certain profiling. 

Right to Question Profiling (Minnesota) 

If we use automated profiling to make a decision that has legal or significant effects, you have the right to be informed of the reasons for the decision and, where feasible, how to secure a different outcome. If you are subject to a profiling decision with significant effects, you have the right to request the specific reasons for that decision and a description of the actions you could have taken to secure a different outcome. If the decision was based on inaccurate data, you have the right to have that data corrected and the decision reevaluated.

 

11. HOW TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS; APPEALS 

To exercise your rights, contact us at operations@distributionstrategy.com. We will respond to your request within 45 days. 

If we deny your request, you have the right to appeal our decision within 30 days of the denial. We will respond to your appeal within 45 to 60 days. If the appeal is denied, you may contact your state’s Attorney General. 

 

12. GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL (GPC) AND UNIVERSAL OPT-OUT SIGNALS 

Our Website recognizes and honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) and other universal opt-out preference signals. When our system detects such a signal, we will process it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for that browser. You will see a visible “Opt-Out Request Honored” confirmation on our site when a signal is detected. 

 

13. CONSUMER PRIVACY CHOICES (COOKIE/ADVERTISING CONTROLS; UPDATES) 

You may have additional choices regarding your information and advertising preferences, including: 

Updating Personal Information 

If your Personal Information changes, you may correct, update, or amend it by emailing operations@distributionstrategy.com. 

Digital Advertising / Cookie Opt-Out Tools 

You can opt out of certain third-party vendor Cookies through industry opt-out mechanisms described in the policy (including browser and ad network settings). Changing settings may not carry over across browsers or networks, and you may still see our ads depending on opt-outs requested; opting out of one program does not necessarily opt you out of all online advertising. 

Browser Settings 

Most browsers automatically accept Cookies. You can disable Cookies in your browser settings, but disabling Cookies may impact use and enjoyment of the Website. Certain Cookies essential to functioning may not be disabled. You can manually delete persistent Cookies through browser settings. 

 

14. SOCIAL MEDIA, THIRD-PARTY LINKS, AND YOUTUBE API SERVICES 

Links to Third Parties 

When you leave our Website and go to another linked site, we are not responsible for the content or availability of that linked site. The privacy and security policies of linked sites may differ from ours. 

Social Media Platforms 

We participate in social media platforms (including Facebook, LinkedIn, and X) that enable online sharing and collaboration. The Website may allow you to connect to and share information with these platforms and may use Cookies, plug-ins, and APIs provided by those platforms to facilitate features. By using these features, you allow us to share information with the designated social media platform. We cannot control third-party platform policies or terms; your use is governed by those third parties’ privacy policies and terms. 

YouTube API Services 

We use YouTube API services to allow you to access YouTube content from our Services. Your use of YouTube is governed by YouTube’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. 

 

15. PROTECTIONS FOR MINORS / CHILDREN’S PRIVACY 

We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of individuals under the age of 18 and apply a “should have known” standard and prohibit the sale or targeted advertising of data belonging to anyone known or reasonably expected to be under 18 (in accordance with Maryland and Oregon requirements described in the policy). 

We also state that we do not direct or target our Website, programs, or Services to children under the age of 16. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information of anyone under 16, we will take appropriate steps to delete this information. Parents or guardians who believe a child under 16 has submitted Personal Information to us may contact us at operations@distributionstrategy.com, and we will make reasonable efforts to remove such information from our databases. 

 

16. INTERNATIONAL USERS 

Our Website is operated in the United States and intended for users located in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, information we collect (including Personal Information) will be transferred to, processed, stored, and used in the United States. U.S. data protection laws may differ from those of your country, and your Personal Information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in the United States according to U.S. law. Such data may be stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction and in jurisdictions which may have less stringent privacy practices than your own. 

 

17. CALIFORNIA “SHINE THE LIGHT” (CIVIL CODE § 1798.83) 

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about the Personal Information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. If applicable, the information would include a list of categories of Personal Information shared and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared information in the immediately preceding twelve (12) calendar months.

18. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY 

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we decide to change this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised policy here. If we make any material changes, we will notify you by email (sent to the email address specified in your account) or by a notice posted on our Website, including a notice on the bottom of this policy.
