The Producer Price Index for final demand rose 0.2% in March, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Final demand prices increased 0.6% in February and 0.4% in January 2024.

On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand rose 2.1% for the 12 months ended March 2024, the largest advance since rising 2.3% for the 12 months ended April 2023.
In March, the advance in the index for final demand is attributed to a 0.3% rise in prices for final demand services. The index for final demand services edged down 0.1%.
The index for final demand less foods, energy and trade services rose 0.2% in March 2024 after rising 0.3% in February. For the 12 months ended March 2024, prices for final demand less foods, energy and trade services increased 2.8%.
