QED, a Sonepar company and one of the country’s largest electrical distributors, has opened a new central distribution center in Aurora, Colorado — its largest facility to date — as part of a broad effort to modernize its logistics network and accelerate service to customers across the western United States.
The 250,000-square-foot facility, located at 21001 E. 13th Avenue in Aurora, is designed to support QED’s transition to a centralized distribution model aimed at improving speed, accuracy, and visibility across its supply chain. A second center is scheduled to open in Mesa, Arizona, in early 2026.
“With real-time inventory visibility, customer service teams can provide faster, more accurate answers to your questions, whether you’re checking on product availability or tracking a shipment,” said QED President Scott Jansen. “Smarter transportation routes and optimized delivery schedules will reduce customers’ wait times and ensure orders arrive when expected.”
The Aurora site employs 110 associates and has created more than 60 new jobs in the Denver area. Managed by Joshua Jordan, the facility integrates robotic picking systems from Locus Robotics to streamline warehouse operations. Technology reduces physical strain on workers while improving order accuracy and productivity — particularly during periods of high demand.
By consolidating inventory and introducing automation, QED expects to double the number of product SKUs available to customers and reduce fulfillment times. The company said the efficiencies gained from centralized operations will allow it to reinvest in customer service and digital tools.
The Aurora opening marks a major step in Sonepar’s U.S. supply chain modernization strategy. The global electrical distributor has been investing heavily in centralized logistics and automation to strengthen operational resilience and improve service consistency across its regional networks.
