QXO Inc., one of the nation’s largest publicly traded distributors of roofing and waterproofing products, has appointed Eric Nelson as chief information officer, effective July 14, as the company ramps up efforts to digitize the $800 billion building products distribution market.
Nelson joined QXO after more than a decade at The Kraft Heinz Co., where he led global IT strategy and digital modernization efforts across supply chain, procurement, and finance. His hiring signals QXO’s intent to embed advanced technology—AI, automation, and data-driven systems—deep into its operations as it builds a national distribution platform.
“Eric brings a rare blend of technical acumen and business insight to QXO,” said Brad Jacobs, chairman and CEO. “His record of impact across logistics, procurement, manufacturing and sales aligns with our mission to reimagine distribution through technology.”
At Kraft Heinz, Nelson oversaw large-scale cloud migrations, developed enterprise-wide analytics platforms, and digitized core logistics operations. He was also instrumental in integrating five major acquisitions and spin-offs—experience that aligns with QXO’s aggressive M&A-driven growth strategy.
Before Kraft Heinz, Nelson held IT and operations leadership roles at Kraft Foods Group and Cadbury plc, where he focused on modernizing manufacturing and distribution networks.
As QXO sets its sights on reaching $50 billion in annual revenue over the next decade, executives say a strong digital backbone—led by veteran technology leaders—will be key to breaking through the fragmentation that defines much of the building products sector.
Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems technology from Southern Illinois University and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
