Rexel USA to Acquire Warshauer Electric Supply to Expand its Northeast U.S. Base

Rexel USA to Acquire Warshauer Electric Supply to Expand its Northeast U.S. Base

Rexel USA, the American arm of Paris-based Rexel Group, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Warshauer Electric Supply, a regional electrical distributor headquartered in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The deal is expected to close by the end of June. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Warshauer Electric, founded in 1954, operates five branches across New Jersey and employs 180 people. The company serves electrical contractors, developers, and design professionals with specialized services including custom switchgear design, generator sales and rentals, energy-efficient lighting systems, and engineering and design support. The company also offers sustainable technologies such as EV charging infrastructure and retrofit energy solutions. In addition, Warshauer runs Warshauer Tech, a continuing education and certification platform for licensed professionals in the electrical trades.

“This acquisition supports our strategy to strengthen our position in key U.S. regions by partnering with companies that combine technical expertise with strong customer relationships,” said Jeff Baker, CEO of Rexel USA, in a company statement.

Rexel said Warshauer will maintain its name, leadership team, and local operations, while benefiting from Rexel’s national reach, digital tools, and supply chain infrastructure.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of U.S. deals by Rexel USA aimed at expanding its regional footprint and capabilities. In January 2024, Rexel acquired Buckles-Smith Electric, a California-based distributor specializing in automation and industrial services. Two months later, it added K/E Electric Supply, a Michigan distributor with nine branches, to reinforce its Midwest operations. Both companies continue to operate under their original names.

According to Rexel Group’s 2024 annual report, acquisitions contributed approximately 600 million euros (about $650 million) in annualized sales over the past two years. North America remains Rexel’s largest and most profitable region, generating 5.1 billion euros ($5.5 billion) in revenue in 2024—over 40% of the company’s global sales.

“These acquisitions illustrate Rexel’s disciplined approach to growth through M&A, especially in markets where we see long-term potential and synergies,” Rexel Group CEO Guillaume Texier said during the company’s February 2025 earnings call.

For Warshauer, joining Rexel offers greater operational scale without sacrificing its regional identity. “We are proud of our 70-year legacy and excited to take this next step with Rexel,” said Jim Dunn, president of Warshauer Electric Supply. “Their backing allows us to serve our customers even better while remaining true to our values, people, and leadership.”
