Sonepar Appoints a President of Robertson Electric Amid Leadership Shifts in Canada

Sonepar Canada has announced leadership changes, including the appointment of Rob Thibeault as president of Robertson Electric, effective June 2. Thibeault has been with Robertson Electric since 2017 and has held leadership roles in retail, marketing, operations, pricing, and analytics. He played a key role in Robertson’s integration into Sonepar following its acquisition in 2024.

In his new position, Thibeault will report to Serge Leblanc, interim president of Sonepar Canada, and join the company’s executive leadership team. He succeeds Rick Campbell, who is stepping down as president and transitioning to the newly created role of executive advisor. Campbell will continue to provide strategic advice to the leadership team during the transition period.

The leadership changes also include the departure of George McClean, former president of Sonepar Canada, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Serge Leblanc, currently President of Lumen Canada, will take on the additional role of Interim President of Sonepar Canada. Leblanc has more than 30 years of experience in the electrical industry and has led Lumen to robust performance within Sonepar’s global operations. He will oversee both Sonepar Canada and Lumen until a permanent successor is appointed.

Robertson Electric, part of the Sonepar group, is an established distributor of electrical products and services in Canada. The company operates nationwide with a focus on serving a wide range of industries, offering solutions that cover automation, lighting, security, and energy management systems. Robertson Electric has maintained a significant presence in the Canadian market, and with Sonepar’s backing, continues to expand its reach and services across various sectors, from small businesses to large industrial clients.

Sonepar entered the Canadian market in 1984 and has grown through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth. Today, the company operates more than 100 locations across Canada, employing around 2,500 associates. This leadership shift is part of Sonepar Canada’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability and ensure continued growth and operational success across the country.
