Spartan ParentCo LLC, doing business as The Merit Distribution Group, has appointed Roger Farmer as chief executive officer effective October 27. He succeeds Geff Lynch, who is retiring after leading the company through a period of growth and integration across its distribution businesses.
Farmer joins the company with more than three decades of experience scaling multi-location distribution and building-supply operations. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Southeast Building Supply Interests, a regional pro-dealer organization serving the lumber and building materials sector. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at Swift Supply, Bender Lumber, American Building Supply, Hope Lumber, 84 Lumber, and Talent Lumber.
“I’m honored to join The Merit Distribution Group as CEO,” Farmer said in a statement. “This is a company with a strong foundation, a talented team, and a clear opportunity to create meaningful impact. I look forward to working closely with our people, partners, and customers to drive innovation, accelerate growth, and shape the next chapter of success.”
Lynch, who cited family health issues as the reason for his retirement, said he was confident in Farmer’s ability to build on the company’s momentum. “I have been honored to lead The Merit Distribution Group and to work with the most talented and committed team in the industry,” he said. “Roger Farmer is the right leader to continue growing the legacy this team has built.”
