Sphere 1 Inc., Lake Forest, Calif., a cooperative of tool, fastener and concrete accessory distributors, announced Mike Shumard will become president of Sphere 1, effective May 1, 2024. This move is part of the succession plan for longtime CEO Rob Moe’s impending retirement.

Shumard has been with Sphere 1 as executive vice president since 2016 and will assume the CEO position at the end of 2026.
“Mike is someone that has become a vital part of our leadership team and without him, we would not be where we are today as a cooperative.” said Moe. “I am confident that because of Mike’s dedication to this cooperative, and with his vision for the future, we can be certain about the opportunity for growth and success as we look at the future for Sphere 1.”
Moe will transition to a support role for Sphere 1 until his formal retirement at the end of 2027.
