Stellantis, the global automaker behind brands such as Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo, will invest $388 million in a new metropolitan Detroit “megahub” designed to modernize its U.S. service parts distribution network.
The facility—set to open in 2027 in Van Buren Township—will serve as the central logistics hub for Stellantis’ Mopar division, which manages parts and service operations. The new site will consolidate and replace multiple aging distribution centers and is expected to support about 488 union jobs represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW).
Stellantis said the hub will be equipped with advanced automation technologies, including AutoStore robotics, to improve how parts are picked, packed, and shipped to dealerships and repair centers nationwide. The design prioritizes speed and accuracy, allowing more inventory to be handled in a smaller footprint while reducing delivery times.
“Our customers count on us to deliver the right part, at the right time, every time,” said Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president and head of Mopar North America. “This investment reflects our commitment to building a faster, smarter, and more reliable distribution network.”
The new megahub is part of a broader initiative to consolidate Stellantis’ U.S. parts operations and upgrade logistics infrastructure. It follows a recent sale-leaseback deal involving three existing Mopar distribution centers in Center Line and Marysville, Michigan, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Those facilities will continue operations until the Van Buren Township hub comes online.
Employees at the existing sites will be offered roles at the new hub or at nearby Stellantis locations in Warren and Warren Sherwood, Michigan, the company said—an arrangement that aligns with UAW efforts to preserve union-represented roles amid facility changes.
In addition to the Van Buren Township investment, Stellantis is allocating another $120 million to modernize other Mopar facilities across the U.S.
Mopar, short for “motor parts,” has been the parts and service arm of Stellantis and its predecessor companies since 1937. It supports Stellantis vehicle owners with everything from replacement parts to customer care for all the company’s U.S. brands.
